General Classification Series Leader [GC]. The 2011 Georgia Cup leader is determined by the addition of points collected in an event, including stage race, omnium, TT, Crit, Circuit, and RR. MAR does go toward this competition. The series winner will receive a custom plaque.
Most Aggressive Rider [MAR]. The 2011 Georgia Cup MAR is determined by the placing on designated laps in criteriums and/or circuit race courses, announced by the ringing of a bell. No series overall but points are used for calculating the overall Omnium.
These awards will be presented at the last race of the GC point’s series on Memorial Day at the Tour of Atlanta to the winners of these competitions: CAT 1/2 (no Pro's), CAT 3, CAT 4 & Masters 35+ (45+ must register as 35+).

The total of these points will go towards the leadership of the 2011 Georgia Cup. Omniums will use the same scale as the series points for scoring events. Points are NON-TRANSFERABLE between categories.

There will NOT be a KOM or MAR compitition for 2011. The MAR's (points only for the overall) will be announced on race day during the officials pre-race announcements. A good rule of thumb will be that every race will have at least 1 MAR, never to exceed 3. The MAR will be announced during the race thus paying attention is very important. The announcer will make every attempt to make it very obvious but it is your responsibility to pay attention. MAR points will NOT count for the overall series (GC) only for the individual MAR. MAR points are not transferable to separate divisions. MAR will also serve as time bonuses and omnium points.
Omnium Point Bonus
Omnium point bonuses for MAR and race finishes will be set the same for the series for symmetry. They will be for the top 3 per MAR, KOM, and finish (excludes time trial). 1st = 5 seconds/points, 2nd = 3 seconds/points, and 3rd = 1 second/point.

Other important information
TT start times will be posted online by 7:00pm the night before the race.
The Georgia Cup will be using AMB Chip-X transponders for scoring as it allows us to score races based on time, as well as give lap times, score MAR and KOM, and provide instant results. Riders will need to purchase ($109) or rent ($10/weekend or $5/per race) their transponder. Once you have purchased your own transponder, your personal information will be loaded into the database and will always be associated with your Chip-X. You can use your Chip-X at any race that scores with Chip-X transponders. We highly recommend you purchasing your own personal transponder - The GC is NOT the only event promoter that uses them in Georgia. You will get a lot of use out of it and the ease at registration will be that much quicker.
The chip should be mounted on the outside left side of the front fork, as far down as possible. Use two zip ties to fasten the transponder on the fork. If you need help with mounting the transponder, please ask at registration.
Chip Return Instructions:
Please return your chip immediately after your last race of the weekend. There will be a drop-off location near the finish line. Chips are nontransferable!! By using the chip for the race, you agree to be held financially accountable for an unreturned chip.
USCF Rules
All riders must have a USCF license. These may be purchased online at www.usacycling.org or at the event. One-Day licenses are also available for $10 for each day of competition.
All riders must have appropriate equipment, helmet, clothing, and compete in accordance to the USCF Rulebook.
USCF Officials will serve as the officiating body of the 2011 Georgia Cup and all decisions made by them will be final and binding, including relegation, disqualifications, and suspensions.
All events are subject to USCF Rules. Racers should be familiar with the 2011 USCF Rulebook.
Race Definitions
Stage Race
An event adding the cumulative time for each race to declare a winner. Time trials are scored to the 1/1000th to break ties.
Omnium
An event adding the cumulative points for each race to declare a winner.
Time Trial
A race in which competitors start one-at-a-time, usually at 30 second or one-minute intervals. The winner is the cyclist who completes the course in the shortest time.
Criterium
A mass-start race consisting of multiple laps around a short course of a kilometer to two kilometers in distance. Race length is often indicated by time rather than laps. Primes and MAR’s are signified with the ringing of a bell where racers compete to be first across the line on the next lap. Primes may be cash and/or prizes. MAR’s will be for time bonuses/omnium points and series points. Wheel pit provided for mishaps occurring prior to the final laps. Pit is wheel in/wheel out.
Road Race
A mass-start race consisting of multiple laps on a course of five to fifty kilometers. Race length is indicated by distance. KOM points are awarded at a designated spot on the course. KOM will be for time bonuses/omnium points and series points. Motor officials, police escort, wheel support vehicles and feed zone will often be provided as well. If provided, wheel support vehicles are wheel in/wheel out. In MOST cases, the GC does NOT provide wheel trucks. If you are not informed that there is a wheel truck, assume they are not available. Races without support vehicles will, instead, have a ‘sweeper’ vehicle on the course! The sweeper vehicle will be able to help with mechanical issues along with transport to the finish.
Protests
Once results are posted you will have 15 minutes to protest. See USA Cycling rules - http://usacycling.org/forms/RdTrkCx_rulebook.pdf
