USAC - ATLANTA CRITERIUM SERIES BEGINS SEPT FIRST

After an exhaustive venue search and faced with the realization that finding a "weekday" Criterium venue in Atlanta was almost impossible. The 20+ year location of our coveted "Tuesday Night Practice Crit" at West Oak proved to be the best location to challenge Atlanta's (Georgia's) best of the best.

The Atlanta Criterium Series is set up to put to rest who is truly the best of the best here in Atlanta. The FALL series begins this Wednesday, September 1st - with race day registration opening at 5pm. Help us out and register online - We have online registration open until 10pm Tuesday nights! It is 7 weeks long and at the end there will be NO doubt who in fact will hold the Championship belt for their category.

The ACS is slated to have 2 seasons: Fall (leading from Labor Day toward "Fall Back" time change. With the Spring Series to begin just after we Spring Forward in 2011. This format will allow those who are peaking for CROSS SEASON and those who peak for the Georgia Cup Spring season leading to next year's Memorial Day Tour of Atlanta. So, ultimatly there will be a FALL & a SPRING CHAMPION!

We will identify the following as Atlanta's Criterium Champions: Pro12, CAT 3, CAT 4, CAT 5, Masters 35+, Masters 45+, Masters 55+, Women Pro12 & Women CAT 3/4.

All results will be posted to USA Cycling and qualify for upgrade points.

The course: With only 2 sweeping turns the 1.2 mile open course has power for true Crit racers with the feel of a Road Race. We will surprise you with the location of the S/F each week. Those who follow us on Twitter will be the lucky ones.
