Map - http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ga/woody%20gap%20school/650687496588

Address - 2736 State Highway 60, Suches, GA 30572 – Parking - Woody Gap School (Remember parking is limited – once at capacity you will have to find your own parking but there is plenty)

The Union County Road Race Leaves from Woody Gap School and after a brief climb, launches riders onto a 3-mile descent down the lesser-known part of Woody Gap going towards Morganton from Suches. Freshly repaved roads on this fast and twisty descent will mean high speeds as riders head out for an epic day of racing in the mountains. From the base of Woody Gap riders will face about 12 miles of long rollers before making a right turn onto Skeenah Gap Road. After a 3 mile almost continuous climb to the top of Skeenah Gap riders will descend into a roughly 15 mile section of mostly gently rolling terrain with the occasional power climb. This section takes riders to the end of Skeenah Gap Road, right onto Blue Ridge Highway, right onto Hidden Lake (with one monster power climb), left onto Mulkey Gap Road, and then right onto Owltown Road which goes all the way to 129. Turning right onto 129 brings riders to the bottom of Neal's Gap where they will climb for 3 miles before making the right turn onto Wolfpen Gap Road to make the final 3.5 mile climb to the finish at the top of Wolfpen Gap. Pro/1/2's will continue to Suches, turn right onto 60 and make a second lap before finishing at the Top of Wolfpen. After the race riders will descend Wolfpen and ride the 7 miles back to the Parking area at Suches.

Map - http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/ga/augusta/831681226755

Address: Augusta Common - 823 Broad St. Augusta, GA 30901

Course Description: Those having battled in previous rounds will be familiar with each other's strengths and weaknesses, while newer riders and upgrades will be able to play the wild card amidst the group. Tactics will unveil as riders either look to protect their positions or pursue the lead to claim their place. Attacks will most certainly go from the gun as this fast, six corner Criterium in DOWNTOWN Augusta provides a great opportunity to spoil the sprint with a solid breakaway group. Augusta will be out on the streets for this event to give riders that needed adrenaline to stay away. The Start/Finish is located on Broad, directly in front of the Commons where the crowds will gather. The course runs counter-clockwise, taking a left on 8th Street and then a long, straight shot down Reynolds where riders will be fighting for position going into the tricky chicane on MacCartan Street. The first few out of the last corner will have the advantage to the line, but it is a long sprint and must be timed to perfection. MAR point$ will be determined by prime bell.

Notes: Public bathrooms are located in the Special Event office at the Augusta Common adjacent to Reynolds St. on the backside of the race course.
Numerous bars and restaurants located in the vicinity of the criterium course.
Parking: No parking is allowed on the north side of Broad St. between 8th St. and Macartan St. Parking is located in the parking areas in the center of Broad Street.

- Enter Fort Gordon via Gate 1 off of Gordon HWY. Proceed to 15th St. Take left on 15th St. 15th St. dead ends at Range Rd. Turn right and proceed to start/finish.

Course Description: Sunday.Fort Gordon.Range Road's Revenge. GEORGIA STATE ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP Open to everyone, first Georgia racer to cross the line wears the Georgia State Road Race Champion's Jersey for a year! A 24K "Flandrian" course with multiple short, steep climbs. These hills will only get bigger with every lap! It will be a long day "out of the saddle" as the stronger riders big-ring these short climbs in an all out assault on the legs and the will of the peleton. Those who are unable to answer these attacks will be forced to face each climb alone as they make their way back to the start/finish area. With the KOM atop a stiff stint to the Start/Finish, one would suspect to find a new wearer of the Jersey by the end of the day. It will be a tough job for the teams to hold it together for their leader's and it may just be a day-long break that catches the chasers out if they leave it too late. The uphill finish will serve the final sorting in those that remain. KOM at start/finish on EVERY LAP except finishing lap.
Notes: All cars entering Fort Gordon are subject to search. All persons entering the park must have valid ID. All drivers must provide current drivers license and proof of insurance.

· ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO PASS THROUGH SECURITY.

Parking is located in the field near the Start/Finish, adjacent to Range Road.
Registration will be at the parking area. Registration will open at 7:00am and will close thirty minutes prior to each event.
Course is open to traffic. RIDERS MUST OBEY YELLOW LINE RULE AND WILL NOT HAVE OPEN ROAD.

Course Markings: All turns will be marked with a Georgia Cup directional sign and arrow pointing in the direction you need to turn. Volunteer Marshals will be present at important turns. Police will be located at busy intersections. All riders are encouraged to keep a course map.

Elite Division has changed to CAT 2/3

Affective immediately the GC Elite division will be both Cat 2 & Cat 3. GC YELLOW, MAR & KOM UPDATED! Jerseys Delivered during the ToA!

The 2008 overall series LEADERS POINTS ARE UPDATED and posted here
--> http://georgiacup.com/files/points.pdf. All series leaders will be awarded their Jerseys (http://georgiacup.com/index.php?page=jerseys) at the Tour of Atlanta. If you are a leader of the points series in the Yellow, MAR or KOM you will receive the jersey to wear while you train and at all GC events. Including: ToA, S7 and Premier events. These jerseys are NOT yours to keep. If or "WHEN" you win the series you will receive the jersey to "KEEP". Until then if you loose the jersey you will return the jersey at the end of that event. Jerseys will ONLY be given to 'regular' participants and MUST be returned to the new leader. If you cannot attend the next GC and you are no longer in the leaders jersey (MAR, KOM or YELLOW) you will be given the new leader's address and you will mail it to them.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE WIZARD for his hard work on the points for us. THANKS WIZARD!!

Listen to the officials or be DQ'd

The Georgia Cup events are USA Cycling sanctioned events that focus on promoting and producing quality cycling events. Our #1 objective is for everyone to be safe followed by to have FUN! We are very fortunate to have the 'best' USA Cycling officials in the Country here in Georgia and will insist that everyone respects our officials. 99.99999% of the time everyone is very respectful and thankful for our officials and that is great. It is very important to note this: regardless of what any "rule book" says, if a USA Cycling (GC retained) official give you a direct order and you do not obey that order you will be DISQUALIFIED from the entire event. The GC will take further action if there is any disrespect toward an official and will sanction that rider(s) from future GC events if needed. Bottom-line, if an official gives you an order, obey it. Why? The simple answer is because of our #1 objective listed above (SAFTEY). Thank you and remember - although racing is very competitive it should always be FUN first. The GC offers a place for cyclist that share a common love of racing to come together and have FUN.

GC Series 7 Cumming Omnium p/b Reality Bikes registration is OPEN!

The Georgia Cup is very excited about our Cumming event May 10th and 11th. All 3 courses are very challenging and very well designed by Mr. Todd Muller of Reality Bikes. The RR does NOT have any MAJOR climbs, however, the course is technical and rolling with POWER climbs all over it. Could be considered similar to this year's Gainesville race WITHOUT Maubry Hill repeats.

Reality Bikes does this VERY ride every Wednesday night. The B (no drop) rides leaves at 5:45pm and the A ride leaves at 6:00pm SHARP. Come out and meet Todd and the reality Bikes Team for a fun practice race/ride.

Transponders are not required for this event, however, we will be 'testing' our latest software that will be use for the ToA.

LaGrange Announces the Criterium Georgia State Championships

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The state championship criterium will begin downtown at 12:15 p.m. Cyclists will race laps on a closed circuit course around Main, Broome, S. Lewis and E. Depot streets. The Downtown LaGrange Development Authority is currently planning events and activities to draw local attendance to watch the races.

Only the streets on the course will be closed for vehicle traffic until the race concludes at 9 p.m.

Over 500 cyclists are planned to compete in the state championship criterium. Participants of any age, professional or amateur, may sign up to race in this event.

GRAY AMB.it LATE RETURN CHIP LIST- PLEASE HELP

Hello! We realize that returning “GRAY” chips after an epic weekend like Gainesville or Chattanooga is sometimes hard to remember. We have waited patiently for many of the chips to be returned but still have way too many that are outstanding. Please note that AMB.it charges the GC for these unreturned GRAY chips. If we do not have these chips back by Friday, April 25, 2008, we will have no choice but to charge your credit card $125 per the race waiver agreement. For those that some how slipped through and did not use a credit card we will report to USA Cycling and petition to have your license suspended until you pay for it. After Friday we will have to pay AMB.it and we will NOT accept the Gray chip back and will only take $125. It is simply not fair for us to have to beg for property that we leased for your use. If you know someone on this list please ask them to return it asap. For mailing info please email info@georgiacup.com. If your name is NOT on the list and you have a gray chip it means we have overlooked you but rest assured that we will end up finding our error. If your name is on this list in error please email us and we will remove it and you have our apologies. Thank you in advance!

Its that time again...our favorite weekend of CYCLING!

Its that time again...our favorite weekend of cyclingof the year....the Twilight।The event that started it all, nearly some 30 yearsago as a brainchild of that crazy Gene Dixon afterhitting his head in a race in France. The Twilight andits spawn have helped to build the popularity ofcycling to urban markets around the country andshowcased the sport as more than boring point to pointroad treks. Showcasing what makes bike racing the bestsport in the world....the athletes. The Twilight has added a great line up of Jazz actswith the UGA School of Music and has something for thewhole family this weekend in Athens. Not to mention30,000 screaming fans, co-eds, and cocktails....goodtimes...definitely good times. Our Friends at Swagger have graciously made the racingclasses mirror those of the GA Cup so one can raceagainst the usual cast of characters. The Junior racesare also part of the LAJORS (Lance Armstrong) racingprogram by USA Cycling. So if yo have not ever been to the Twilight....youshould.if you have....you know its the most fun you can haveat a bike race.See you at in Athens.link to races below....

2008 Chattanooga – Georgia Cup

We have received consistent feedback…. The best GC ever! The RR was the most beautiful location we’ve ever seen. Dahlonega is no doubt beautiful. But just wait until we post our pictures. It started in a cove that looked up at Lookout Mountain and literally continued along the foothills. The course was challenging, well marked and Senic City Velo provided more than enough volunteers.
If you have a “GRAY” transponder you need to overnight it by Wednesday! Contact info@georgiacup.com for mailing instructions.
Thank You Very Much to SCV (Senic City Velo), all the volunteers, Wheel Truck drivers, Lead Cars, Pace Car, Economy Honda, all the GC series sponsors, Topview Sports, Steven Carpenter and especially Mr. Matt MacAfee. Thank you Matt for all your hard work, before the event and during, in making the first every Chattanooga GC the best experience for everyone! See you in Cumming!
We are heading to Cumming for our Series 7 – Cumming Georgia Cup, p/b Reality Bikes (http://www.realitybikes.com/) on May 10th. For those who have never been to Cumming, GC – you’re in for another treat!
After Cumming be ready – the 2008 Tour of Atlanta begins, Thursday, May 22 – Monday, May 26th। We will be in NE Atlanta this year. Details, Flier, bible, race hotel info, etc will be out THIS week!

Lost rear wheel
During the Chattanooga Road Race, I got a flat and exchanged wheels from the wheel truck. After the race, my rear wheel was missing from the truck. It is an American Classic Sprint 350. Please let me know if this was found after the races on Sunday. Thanks

LOST POWERTAP unit
I raced the Masters Road Race this morning, part of the Chattanooga race weekend. During the first lap, my yellow Powertap computer unit fell off my bike. After the race, I went back and thoroughly looked over the area, but did not find it. Could you please let me know if anyone turns in this unit as lost? . Thank you in advance. Bob Rowland
Lost Item at Chattanooga RR
Someone lost something relatively valuable this past weekend. I'd hate for it to fall in the wrong hands, thus I've done what I'd hope one would do for me.
If you can explain your item and where and when you "misplaced" it this weekend, please contact me so that I can get it back to you immediately.

REALITY BIKES OFF THE FRONT OR ON THE FRONT??

We are still waiting on a ruling from the UCI. Is it the leading edge of the front wheel or the leading edge of the wheel in front? Good news is that everyone is A OKAY!

Georgia Cup – GAINESVILLE in the NEWS!

Economic impact! This is what the GC brings to a community. Here's what one business owner said ...... Rebecca Clanton, owner of Sweet Magnolia's on Main Street, said she served nearly 1,000 customers Sunday, including cyclists and volunteers. "We opened especially for the Georgia Cup. We've probably served 500 sandwiches or more and 20 gallons of ice cream," Clanton said. "It's been a madhouse all day."

Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers! On Saturday we had 15 Sheriff officers and over 20 volunteers for one of the most exciting Road Races in GC history!
We are very excited about the support our Paton's have shown early on this year! Keep in mind Saturday it rained (sometimes poured) all day and we still had over 400 participants! WOW!
Special thanks to our officials - if it was not for them there would be no reason to promote races. Thank you so much!
Watch for videos and pictures from this epic weekend to be posted this week - http://www.georgiacup.com/.
THE GC will be announcing 4 of our 7 Tour of Atlanta stages THIS week! We are still looking for that elusive TITLE sponsor of the ToA. If you can help refer someone we we would really appreciate it. Please contact James Lowe at james@georgiacup.com.
Extra Special Thanks goes out to:
Addictive Cycles, Cafeine and crew, Team Cannondale/Allset, Hayes Dealerships, Tim & Chad Hayes, Main Street Market, Sweet Magnolia, Just Downtown, the City on officers of Gainesville, Hall County Engineering, Hall County Sheriff, Jackson County Sheriff, Jackson County, City of Pendergrass, City of Talmo, The Georgia DOT, North Jackson Elementary School, Kathy Elrod, Joe Burnett, Debra Harkrider, Nathan O'Neill, Eric & Jason Kriel & last but not least Eric and Jennifer Holyfield!

On a personal note - Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Weatherington, Robert Shaver & Ms. Shirley for watching baby Emerson.

CHATTANOOGA TEAM PICTURES – FREE!

The GC is pleased to announce that we will have a professional photographer for our Chattanooga DOWNTOWN Criterium on Saturday, April 12th, 2008. They will be taking Team & Individual Pictures from 11am – 7pm by the podium. Sign up will begin during registration Friday night and available at registration on Saturday. You will also be able to just walk up – First Come, First Serve. We are very excited about these team pictures because we are almost finished with our “Team” & Individual web pages that will eventually interact with results. An example of our Individual page is http://www.georgiacup.com/index.php?page=bios/murphy.

The Team & Individual (racer bio) pages will be completely FREE and a fun way to promote yourself and your team to potential sponsors and others. The pictures will be available for purchase for you and the team the week after Chattanooga. We will direct everyone to the site. The GC will receive the pictures FREE for use on our site and GC promotions. Teams and Individuals will need to purchase the pictures for use.

It is that simple – you DO NOT have to do the pictures. You can choose to have a Team or Individual page and purchase the pictures. You do NOT have to have a team or individual page and you don’t have to buy the pictures. The sitting fee is FREE.
